- Remove wet objects, including rugs, furniture, towels; their wetness and humidity can get into wood pores to create mold and mildew growth.
- Use a wet vacuum to soak up water and then use fans and dehumidifiers to dry the floor.
- Disinfect to remove bacteria (which will only hold onto water) and examine for mold; if you see any, scrub with a manufacturer-approved cleaner.
- Use a wood moisture meter and keep the fans on until the meter registers that all the water is gone.
