Hardwood flooring improves air quality

And some other facts that may surprise you

If you, or a resident of your home, have allergies or asthma hardwood flooring won’t attract and hold onto allergens, mold or particles such as pet hair. When you vacuum or sweep, it all goes out!

That makes your air fresh and a lot easier to breathe.

Mother Nature’s unique creations

Here’s another compelling reason, this time from an aesthetic point of view: Everything is nature is unique. Mother Nature won’t repeat a tree, leaf or even raindrop. That means your hardwood. Including the knots, swirls and raised grains will be individual to the flooring in Georgia home.

Other things to know about hardwood flooring

  • It's quite cost-effective, especially when you look at the "big picture." There is minimal, if any, replacement costs because these floors last for years. Usually, scratches are in the veneer a finishing will bring it back up to its original luster.

Wood never goes out of style, and this flooring is appropriate for any decor.

They also add value to your home. If you are planning to sell, know that buyers will often pay more for a home with these floors.
  • There are two kinds of hardwood. One is solid, the other engineered. The only difference in this is construction; while solid is one slab, engineered is a slab on top, followed by layers of wood combined with other materials. Placed in a crosswise position, the engineered wood is more stable and better able to handle water.

Both are real wood and add the same value to your home.
  • Both types are durable and easy to maintain, but solid can be damaged by excess water. Wipe spills immediately. If hardwood gets wet, don’t panic, but do act quickly:

    1. Remove wet objects, including rugs, furniture, towels; their wetness and humidity can get into wood pores to create mold and mildew growth.
    2. Use a wet vacuum to soak up water and then use fans and dehumidifiers to dry the floor.
    3. Disinfect to remove bacteria (which will only hold onto water) and examine for mold; if you see any, scrub with a manufacturer-approved cleaner.
    4. Use a wood moisture meter and keep the fans on until the meter registers that all the water is gone.
