Transitions that work well between hardwood flooring and carpet

Transitions that work well between hardwood flooring and carpet

Especially with today’s open layouts, it’s not unusual to see a living room with carpet that flows into a dining area with hardwood flooring.

Of course, it would be convenient to use the same flooring throughout your home. That may not be possible, though, as some work better in specific installations than others.

And, let’s face it: You want something to add visual interest.

Why are transitions necessary?

A flooring transition is a metal, wood, or ornamental piece used when two different floorings come together.

They bridge gaps and create smoother boundaries. Transitions also address a safety issue because different floorings can have different heights and thicknesses, Which can result in tripping on overhangs. It also creates a visual break for the wood floors and carpet.

The best wood-to-carpet transition

This would be the 4-in-1 strip. It's like a Swiss Army Knife because it has a lot of interchangeable parts that work for different installations.

In this case, it's a great choice when transitioning from carpet to hardwood flooring or any other surface.

Some will use a T-molding (although included in the 4-in-1 transition strip) or even a carpet edge gripper, which is possible if the wood flooring lies lower than the carpet.

But we can't emphasize this enough: Always seek advice from the experts at our hardwood flooring showroom because there are so many variables with different rooms.
