When it comes to design, know that you never have to sacrifice style for price. Luxury vinyl is the best of cheap floor covering. It is a popular choice for kitchens, because it suits any budget, and comes in a wide assortment of colors; all in patterns resembling ceramic; natural stone; and hardwood.  It’s not like the vinyl we remember in Grandma’s kitchen, thanks to the high resolution photography that makes it so much more realistic.

First, you need a basic understanding of what vinyl is:  There are a total of four layers: The protective urethane top coat, protective clear vinyl layer, the printed design layer, and a felt or fiberglass backing.

Luxury vinyl can be installed over most clean, dry surfaces and it comes in forms of either tile or planks. The tiles (often referred to as LVT) mimic ceramic tile, and they can be rearranged in any mosaic.  Hint:  Use a color-coordinated grout to really get a knockout look.
Planks make luxury vinyl resemble solid hardwood. They come in a lot of colors and textures, and you can even find those that imitate exotic woods or distressed surfaces.

Now ask yourself this: Is luxury vinyl tough?  Yes, yes, yes!!  It can withstand scratches, stains and a lot of foot traffic, such as active kids and pets running over it. Many even come with antimicrobial protection that guards against the growth of mold, mildew, and bacteria.

It’s easy to clean, too.  Just sweep, dust or mop daily, and wipe up spills immediately. Every so often wipe with a damp mop, and use a non-abrasive soap. Most manufacturers will recommend certain cleaners, so follow directions carefully. In every instance, however, waxy polishes and cleaners should be avoided.

Luxury vinyl is a cheap floor covering that has it all!
