Spring is Here, So Spruce Up Your Home With Floor Covering

Time for spring cleaning! The good news is that you don’t have to remodel an entire room to give your home that fresh, up-to-date look. A change in floor covering will often do the trick, and you won’t have to break the bank to do it.

First, there are budget-friendly materials, like luxury vinyl tile. You can get a remarkably similar look of tile, stone or wood; it’s 100 percent waterproof and easy to maintain.
Maybe your heart is set on carpet and, while it’s far less expensive than natural materials, it is still a significant expense.

How do you stay within budget without sacrificing style or quality?

Cherokee Floor Covering of Woodstock, GA, known in the area as one of the biggest floor covering companies, gives you some cost-conscious tips:

1. Consider different fibers. We all think of nylon. It’s strong and the most popular. It’s also the most expensive, but it’s not your only choice.

Polyester is naturally stain resistant and, what with all the modern technology, you can walk into a carpet store to see a large selection of patterns and vibrant colors. Olefin is the least expensive. It’s not very durable and should be used mostly for low-traffic areas, but that changes and durability increases, when it’s used in a Berber style.

2. Select a style that’s durable in any price point, such as Berbers and Frieze’s.
3. Look for in-stock. Retailers often keep rolls of carpet housed in warehouse, and sometimes it’s discounted. You might also find remnants, which are a good option if you’re planning to carpet a smaller space.
4. Upgrade the padding.  It can be difficult to spend money on something you can’t see, but the padding is critical to how the carpet performs. If you’re on a tight budget, you need to be sure the padding is high quality, but you don’t need some of the bells & whistles that can be offered (at a cost).
5. Get a carpet that’s all-in-one. That is, with the padding already attached to the back. This type of carpet is very budget-friendly, much more so than if you bought them separately.
